Drowning in Plastic – Sustainability and a commitment to deliver
Drowning in Plastic
Sustainability and commitment to deliver
Anyone watching last night’s BBC1 documentary Drowning in Plastic could not fail to have been affected by viewing, close up, the disastrous impact of single use plastic on our planet.
At times, and in tears on occasion, the programme’s presenter – and marine biologist – Liz Bonin, showed images of blocked rivers, severely injured animals and the ongoing fight by scientists to respond to and tackle head-on its impact.
Never before has there been such a focus on the issue or such an appetite for finding an alternative.
At Commercial, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of sustainability for many years. And we too are working hard towards eliminating single use plastic from our supply chain and from our offices.
Working with our customers, suppliers and team, we are united in finding the answers. For those with single use plastic already on the agenda to those who are unsure of where to start with this complex issue. It’s about tackling first and foremost the sheer production and consumption of it, the infrastructure to dispose of it and, as always, education.
It’s not going to be easy – click the button below to see how one of our Change Champions teams looked to reduce it within our organisation.
Thankfully we have programmes like Drowning in Plastic. They keep our minds focused on the enormity of what we are dealing which, essentially, is the latest, greatest environmental crisis since our war on climate change.
