Reducing our environmental impact has been part of Commercial’s DNA for many years. It runs through every strand of the business and extends to not only our colleagues and clients, but the wider community too. We’ve implemented our own internal initiatives and programmes, as well as committing to goals set out under international standards. The climate emergency makes this even more important. We can’t just sit by and watch, we must take action, together

Commercial is the business it is because of its people. We’ve implemented a number of initiatives that the whole team can benefit from, and in turn, these have a ripple effect that benefits our wider communities, both socially and environmentally.
Taking care of our employees is paramount. Empowering our people to be leaders, while also supporting and nurturing when needed.
Launched in 2015, our award-winning employee engagement programme, encourages employees to become change makers, using their own initiative to drive business transformation.
Personal Carbon Offsetting
Our teams can help shrink their carbon footprint at home. In partnership with Ecologi, we offer a subscription service to offset the impact they make outside of work.
A formal commitment to support good causes, we hold regular events and fundraisers, and the team get involved in community projects through our Branching Out initiative.

UN Global Compact
Commercial has incorporated the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact into its strategies and operations.
A shared blueprint for peace and prosperity, for people and the planet, we have embedded and contribute towards 16 SDGs.
The impartial credibility that comes with being independently assessed keeps us accountable in our global action.
The push to net-zero
We have an ambitious target to be carbon net-zero by 2028. Carbon neutral since 2006, this is an essential next step as we aim to eliminate our environmental impact.
The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol
Setting the international standard for measuring and managing emissions. Commercial has made commitments against its three scopes.
Science Based Targets
We’ve signed up to the Science Based Target’s initiative (SBTi). This will help to align our goals with the Paris Agreement which aims to cap the rise in global temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Looking to limit our environmental impact across the business has seen us use Power BI for order consolidation. We search for every opportunity to optimise efficiency.
Great things can happen when we work together. We believe that empowering our teams, clients and partners is the most effective way to elicit change.
We launched Change Champions in 2015. This has seen Commercial colleagues act on issues that matter to them; from fundraising to volunteering and recycling.
It’s important our clients understand their environmental impact, so we work with them to provide personalised reporting.
We launched a story book in 2022 which highlighted how school children can help combat climate change. Interactive workshops for schools are bringing learning alive through creativity.
