Golf for Good raises £10,000 for Commercial Foundation
Suppliers and clients boost funds allowing B Corp accredited social enterprise to do even more to help young people.
Friends of the Commercial Foundation took to the fairways this week to raise funds that will help the B Corp-accredited social enterprise go the extra mile for its volunteers.
Golf for Good, at Brickhampton Court Golf Complex near Cheltenham, raised an impressive £10,000 as clients, suppliers and Commercial employees did battle on the course.
Founded a decade ago, the Commercial Foundation has supported more than 180 young people aged 16-24 to overcome barriers to finding work, training, or education.
Through its No Limits programme, volunteers benefit from coaching, mentoring, and real work experience.
Adam Miller, Head of Commercial Foundation, said that raising funds was important. However, the event was about showing how collaboration benefits businesses too.
“It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces in one place,” he said. “All of them sharing stories of the work we’ve done together over the years.
“The Foundation has an incredible network of clients and suppliers. Many who’ve supported us for many years. This event was our way of saying thank you.
ANNUAL FIXTURE
“The Foundation is a self-financing enterprise. Money raised by Golf for Good will help us do even more.
“We will be able to buy bus passes to enable our volunteers to get to the Foundation and job interviews. And also supply smart clothing for our volunteers to wear to interviews.
“The idea is to make this an annual fixture. To welcome even more people to discover the huge impact working with the Foundation can have.”
Since opening in 2015, more than 85% of the volunteers move on from the eight-week No Limits programme into positive employment, education, or training outcomes.
A thriving digital print studio and specialist fulfilment house, the Foundation funds its work through orders placed by many of the businesses in attendance.
However, the contribution of partner organisations that provide workshops and hands-on experiences to help volunteers develop essential life and work skills make it truly unique.
Adam Guest, Senior Channel and Business Support Manager at TSB said his team values the chance to work alongside the Foundation.
“At TSB we are always very keen to support organisations who share our values, who are both environmentally and socially aware,” he said.
“It was an easy choice for us to partner with the Foundation. Their values align to everything we do.
“TSB order our business cards through them. We share the message of the impact that creates across our wider staff network. They take pride in the impact that creates.
“We also run the Money Matters workshop. To help the volunteers better understand their finances and take real money confidence into the next steps they take.
“Being part of Golf for Good and meeting other like-minded organisations really brought home the impact of the great work being done. We can’t wait to return next year.”
