We recognise that many of our employees will experience the menopause to a varying degree, and for some, the menopause will have an adverse effect on their working lives. At Commercial, we support Pride and the LGBTQ+ community and we educate our teams on inclusive language, the LGBTQ+ community and how we can all come together to embrace our uniqueness.
We have introduced gender neutral toilets and promote everyone’s preferred pronouns throughout the organisation.
Inclusion unlocks innovation
At Commercial, committing to a cause, celebrating an event, or achieving an accreditation is never a box-ticking exercise. If we do something, it is because we believe it makes us stronger as a team and showcases our true beliefs, both internally and externally. Communication is key to our Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) message. All of the initiatives below have featured in our weekly group-wide learning days or as part of our Change Champions employee engagement programme. As a result, they have become causes we all understand and believe in.

Women in tech
In 2021, we were proud to launch our ‘Women in Tech’ programme, a Change Champions initiative designed to promote STEM in all schools throughout the UK.

Menopause pledge
In the UK, around 900,000 women have quit their jobs due to menopause. We don’t want anyone at Commercial to be part of this statistic.

Disability Confident
We are hugely proud to be awarded a Disability Confident Level 2 accreditation, recognised as going the extra mile to ensure disabled people get a fair chance.

It’s widely acknowledged that Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects are male dominated, and our programme implemented a number of initiatives to educate, inspire and facilitate women to have careers in technology.
This includes STEM ambassadors, enhanced maternity pay, ensuring our job adverts are gender neutral and making the request for flexible working a right from day one. By steadfastly implementing these transformative initiatives, we boldly pave the way towards a future where women in technology confidently chart their paths, shattering stereotypes and making their indelible mark in the STEM landscape.
