Strong growth and leadership development at Commercial
Business services specialist and Queen’s Award for Enterprise winner Commercial today announces that it closed its 2017 accounts with a run rate in excess of £70m, 40 percent up on the previous year.
With further ambitious plans in the pipeline, brother and sister co-founders Arthur and Simone Hindmarch are now taking on more defined leadership roles. As Chairman, Arthur will focus on long-term corporate strategy and as Managing Director, Simone will be responsible for day-to-day operations and decision making. The pair will continue to work collaboratively on an equal footing as they take the business forward to the next stage of its development.
This announcement comes one week after it was revealed that Commercial received a 2018 Queen’s Award for Enterprise. Arthur says this was a major milestone.
“It was wonderful to receive such a highly regarded business accolade hot on the heels of our best ever year,” he explains. “It has galvanised us to set our sights even higher as we plan for the next five to ten years.”
Commercial also continues to build on its social and environmental sustainability achievements. It invests 20 percent of profits into Commercial Foundation, the social enterprise it established to boost the employment prospects of disadvantaged young people. There are several schemes underway to reduce the use of disposable plastics within the business and in the products it sells to customers. And earlier this year, it extended its employee volunteer scheme, enabling all 300 staff members to take one paid day off per year to help out with a charity of their choice.
Simone Hindmarch says the company’s #CommercialByNature ethos resonates with customers, suppliers and employees alike.
“For us, being successful isn’t just about turnover and profit margins. It’s about the impact of our business on communities and the environment. At Commercial, strong values and strong business sense are two sides of the same coin.”
On 28 June, Commercial is hosting its 11th CSR Day in Cheltenham. This year’s speakers include Wayne Hemingway and Ed Gillespie. Further information is available at www.csrday.co.uk
